Last Minute Workshop!

A very short note to tell you about a workshop this Saturday, at the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific, in Saanich, BC.

Did you know you can harvest plant fibre from Rubus armeniacus, AKA, Himalayan Blackberry? It’s true! You can easily harvest at only certain times of year (now!) and from specific parts of the plant.

Join me Saturday, June 20 to learn more about this abundant, free fibre source. Workshop fee includes admission to the gardens. It’s a great excuse to visit the gardens during Pollinator Week. Arrive in the morning to stroll the gardens, and perhaps have some lunch. You can then attend my workshop from 1-4pm, where you’ll learn the basics about harvesting, drying and using this abundant, free plant fibre.

After harvesting, we’ll spend the second half of the workshop learning how to make cordage, talking about different uses for the fibre, and making a small bristle brush. You are of course welcome to leave early and take the project & supplies with you.
